Picture
After taking a watercolor class for a few years I went to an art exhibit on prairies at Fermilab that included the botanical artwork of Heeyoung Kim. I was intrigued by her native plant pictures and signed up for her next class.

In the spring of that year my husband and I returned 30 acres of our family farmland into a meadow. Instead of corn and soybeans our acreage is now planted with native pollinator plants and grasses.

Heeyoung is teaching me how to document the growth of the meadow, scientifically and artistically.

As the meadow grows and the land is restored to its original state, I find that I have more subjects to capture in pen and watercolor. Each flower, bird, and animal offers a rich study of details which I am excited to share.
