About Studio Sandy Frydman:
Sandy Frydman began making jewelry at a very young age, and by age eleven, created her first soldered pieces. She loved working with metal-- the clink, clink, sound of the hammer hitting the hard sheet of metal and transforming it into a visually softened form. After receiving her degree in art education, Sandy finally had the opportunity to take some informal jewelry classes and independently study and practice her technique. She explored various materials to create jewelry: metal, clay and found objects, often focused on nature.
Sandy has taught both children and adults many different forms of art. Jewelry design and creation is a favorite of hers and her students. She has used her extensive travels to create a visual library for reference, taking photos and observing details. On a quiet walk in the woods, she is drawn to the light and shadows playing on the shapes of leaves and flowers. Sandy photographs the details she observes and refers to them when creating her artwork, often a work in progress. When Sandy is not creating jewelry, you will find her creating something else, sewing, painting, drawing, or spending time with her husband and children. She hopes to share the joy she receives from creating with others. |
