About Beth Plotnick:

I live in Chicago and in Berrien County, Michigan, both places where there are plenty of places to walk and observe the vast range of plants native to the region. I feel extremely lucky to be near Lincoln Park, with the natural plantings at the Notebaert Nature Museum and the zoo boardwalk. In Michigan over the last 23 years we have expanded native plant populations on our property; and again, I am lucky to experience daily walks in savannah, wetlands, and planted prairies there. On every walk, something surprising or new turns up, and there are many things I look forward to seeing again.
From Heeyoung I enjoy learning about the intricate interactions of birds, insects, and plants. I am returning (slowly) to watercolor after a few years of working on still life compositions in pencil and oils. I look forward to making drawings with more scientific detail as I learn more.
