About Sandra Robinson:

I’m a lifelong Wisconsin resident. I’ve always been interested in art since early grade school. High School was where I really found art as my life career choice. Because I couldn’t afford college, I went through the Commercial Art program with MATC Milwaukee. I then took a job as a receptionist at a small audio visual firm, Informedia, with additional work assisting the art department for overflow jobs. After about 6 months I switched positions to full-time artist for a couple years. I left this company in search of a more challenging position and became employed with USAV Corporation as an audio visual production artist and later trained in a new department they were expanding into -- Desktop Publishing on the new Macintosh computers, which brought me into the digital world of art. Wanting more design responsibilities, I found my perfect career job as a designer with Hal Leonard Music Publishing in Milwaukee. My background in music and piano helped me in being able to understand and design music book covers, sheet music covers, children’s musical educational magazines/programs, and internal advertising for Hal Leonard. I worked there until retiring in 2013. This is when I took up my own interests in art, journaling, sketching, and continuing art education. Steering toward botanical illustration is no surprise as I’ve always loved nature and detail. I joined Cream City Calligraphers guild in Milwaukee and the Midwest Sumi-e Chapter in Glenco IL. My interests in penmanship, lettering, Japanese brush painting, pen and ink, and watercolor came alive through these groups of talented people. This is when I discovered Heeyoung Kim and her Art Academy.
Thank you, Heeyoung, for providing excellent training in techniques that have really challenged me and given me such pleasure in creating new art.
