About Jacquelyn Curtis:

Jacquelyn Curtis is both an artist and Art Teacher currently residing in Chicago.  Jacquelyn has been creating art since her early childhood and teaching art to a range of Kindergarten through High School students for over 5 years.  Typically she uses mixed media or textiles to convey her creative ideas.  Collage, stitching, painting, sculpture and assemblage are all included among her repertoire of artworks.  Jacquelyn has shown her work in many group art shows throughout Chicago.  She has also shown her work within art shows held in Indiana, Michigan, and Nairobi, Kenya. Jacquelyn is currently continuing her own education by pursuing a Master's of Art Education degree.  In addition, she creates smaller, upcycled goods to display at local stores or show at local pop-up markets in the Chicago area.  Jacquelyn's artwork and smaller goods can be viewed at the @granny_punk page on Instagram or Granny Punk Designs page on Facebook.

When thinking of art, the deeper meaning & process behind the art-making is often just as important as the finished product itself.  Whether she's stitching or painting, Jacquelyn finds the process meditative and reflective on the subject she is conveying.  Throughout her art career, she has gravitated toward any ways to make a positive and lasting impact on the world and its inhabitants, especially in regards to social and environmental justice.  Jacquelyn greatly enjoys reimagining otherwise cast-off or overlooked materials into new creations that can continue being appreciated for a longer time.  Jacquelyn seeks to make the arts as accessible as possible to all individuals to encourage others to foster their creative side as well.
