Queer Ecology Nature Walk
Sunday, June 26th from 9 - 11 AM at Lyons Woods Forest Preserve
Join Brushwood Center and the LGBTQ Center of Lake County for a nature walk specifically for the queer community! As an extension of Brushwood Center's Queer Ecology Exhibition, this walk is an opportunity to experience the outdoors through the lens of queer theory. We will be exploring Lyons Woods in Waukegan with Dani Abboud from Brushwood Center and Chicagoland birder, Daniela Herrera (@latina.birder on instagram). We'll be looking for birds, cool fungi, identifying trees, and discussing the multitude of identities and possibilities that can be found in nature. Come build community with other queer-identified folks while exploring a beautiful Lake County nature preserve.
This walk is intended for queer-identified people of all ages. The walk is free of charge, but registration is required as space is limited. Register through the link below:

About the Walk Leaders:
Daniela Herrera, she/her/hers
Daniela Herrera lives in Chicago and is a queer Mexicana. She's organized bird walks with the Chicago BIPOC Birders and Out in Nature. |
Dani Abboud, they/them/theirs
Dani Abboud is the Manager of Community Programs and Partnerships at Brushwood Center. They graduated from Loyola University Chicago’s Institute of Environmental Sustainability, where they studied Environmental Science and Sociology. |
