About Karen Bonner

This nature show is the perfect venue for my art. I love painting animals, plants, landscapes and all things. natural.
My art journey began in 2012 at the community college in Ohio. My only experience in art had been an art appreciation class. Lucky for me, my professor convinced me to take drawing classes. She said "You may not be a master, but your art will get better with practice."
In 2013 we moved to Northbrook where I have been fortunate to learn from some extraordinary teachers. They taught me techniques and provided experiences in a variety of mediums and textures. Much of the work in this sale is painted on wood or slate. I especially enjoy painting watercolor on wood. The transparency of the watercolor allows the texture and imperfections of the wood to show.
When I am not painting my time is shared with my granddaughters and plans for a new baby boy arriving soon. My husband and I travel and love photographing nature everywhere. Many of those photos become the subjects of my paintings. However, if one were to ask, "What is the highest accomplishment of my life," I would answer, "Kissing a moose!"
