Join the BASE UpCyclers!

Picture
The BASE UpCyclers is a group of creative volunteers who help us make the most of the materials in the Brushwood Art Supply Exchange (BASE) by upcycling them!  Volunteers can work together at twice monthly optional meetings, or work at their own pace and comfort level at home. We have several upcycling projects planned, and encourage UpCyclers to come up with plans of their own. Completed projects might be used around Brushwood, donated to partner organizations, sold at one of the Brushwood Center markets to raise funds to support Brushwood Center programming or may become samples for future Brushwood programs.  We will provide the supplies and know-how, you provide the time. All levels of crafters are welcome.  Work on projects at Brushwood during open hours, or on your own time at home.

Current Projects Include:
  • Make plant pots out of old vinyl banners (easy to intermediate). Skills: pattern tracing, cutting, origami folding
  • Make tote bags out of old fabric samples (intermediate – some sewing experience recommended). Skills: pattern tracing, cutting, ironing, using sewing machine (borrow one from BASE, or use your own)
  • Make bird feeders out of old dishes (easy to intermediate). Skills: hardware assembly and drilling (Glass drill bit provided, borrow a drill from BASE or use your own)
  • Make picture frames (intermediate woodworking skills). Frame stock provided, use your own tools.
  • Design your own projects! We have LOTS of the following items: fabric, zippers, sewing patterns, ribbon and trims, yarn, knitting needles, crayons, architectural samples, uncut frame stock, vinyl banners, rubber stamps and so much more!  If you have an idea to turn some of it into items that will be useful, we’d love to hear about it!

Contact us for more info or to find out how you can be part of the team, or join us at an upcoming meeting and just jump in!

UPCOMING SCHEDULE:
Monday, October 17, 10am - 12pm
BASE Create & Sip prep: UpCyclers will be pulling supplies and making samples for October's Create & Sip Class - UpCycled Jewelry!  Help us gather supplies and come up with some fun examples and projects to get BASE and Brushwood ready for the class.
