I love the transparency and fluidness of watercolor and the discovery of patterns, shapes and colors. I paint primarily botanical watercolors, but also work in graphite and pen and ink. I have always been drawn to detail and enjoy the subtleties in color, differences and similarities in shape, and variation in line. I try to capture the beauty and grace that are inherent in plants and nature while giving each subject its own particular identity.
I majored in art and went on to receive a PhD in Communicate Disorders/Learning Disabilities. I have taught in public and private schools and University settings. Throughout my professional career I have enjoyed and used my art background. I am a member in the American Society of Botanical Artists, the North Shore Art Leagues (Winnetka, IL), the Chicago Art Institute, and the Milwaukee Art Museum, Milwaukee, WI.
I have exhibited 13 art works in juried exhibitions. Examples include: “Three Tulips with Bulbs,” 21st Annual Botanical Art Exhibition, Filoli, Woodside, CA, March 2019; “Three Apples,” Union League Club, Chicago, IL., Member Art Exhibition, June, 2019; “Hibiscus with Bud,” RAM Wustum Museum of Fine Art, Dec. – April, 2018; “Tulips with Bulbs”, 19th Annual Botanical Art Exhibition, Filoli, Woodside, CA, Oct., 2017; “Two Poppies,”26th Annual Midwest Seasons Exhibit, Center for Visual Arts, Wausau, WI., March 2016; “Protea Caffra,” The Artist’s Perspective Exhibit, Center for Visual Arts, Wausau, WI, Sept. 2015; “Three Pears”, “Three Onions”, RAM Wustum Museum, Racine WI., 2015; “Hummingbird Nest”, Midwest Season Exhibit, Center for the Visual Art, Wausau, WI., March 2015.
