About Tammy J. Kordik:
Tammy J. Kordik works in mixed media to explore ways to create 3-dimensional leaf shapes that enter into the space surrounding a 2-dimensional painting. She achieves this expression of 2 and 3 dimensional spaces by painting on a canvas and then extends leaves outside of the traditional border of the two dimensional surface. The painted leaves are created from a variety of materials including fabric, paper, metal screening and leather. The sculptural paintings explore the elements of shape, color and light as well as space. Her intention is to invite you into the space of the painting through the sculptural quality. Ms. Kordik received a Bachelor of Science in Art Education from Northern Illinois University and is an elementary art educator. She has a Master of Arts in Painting from Governors State University.
