From Disruption to Healing – A Climate Walk with an Artist

Picture
Tuesday, May 25, 6:30 pm
Rain date: Wednesday, May 26, 6:30 pm
Led by artist Barbara Cooper

Climate change and other disruptions can bring a host of challenges. But they can also bring opportunities to create anew and heal. Join an artist on a walk in Ryerson Woods to observe disruptions in nature and consider how they can become metaphors for life and a process toward healing.

This program is part of Third Coast Disrupted: Artists + Scientists on Climate, an exhibition of science-inspired artworks at the Brushwood Center Gallery May 7 – August 22.
Register
Artist Barbara Cooper works primarily in sculpture, drawing, and public art. She embeds sustainability and an ecology of wholeness in her work through the use of repurposed, diverse materials, including wood, metal, paper, glass and found objects. Her work is in the collections of the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, the Smithsonian National Museum of American Art, the Illinois State Museum, and more. She is a participant in Third Coast Disrupted: Artists + Scientists on Climate.
