About Beverly Behrens
Particularly during the pandemic — and since-- I have found solace in nature walks, almost daily, at the Middlefork Savanna Forest Preserve of Lake County. Starting in the springtime, my husband and I have been documenting the wildflowers--as well as frogs, turtles, and birds--living there. If the flora or fauna are new to us, we research them on the iNaturalist app. Then, with sketches and photographs for reference, I have produced a collection of watercolor paintings and colored pencil drawings. The archival prints and note cards from these images have become part of my offerings for sale at the Brushwood Center Holiday Art Market. Recently I collaborated with long-time friend to produce a book, Inspired by a Garden, which was published October, 2021, a collection of poems by Marilyn Kratz together with 20+ watercolor paintings by me. It is for sale, and I will be pleased to provide signed copies, with an added freebee with each book, for in-person shoppers.
