I spent my professional career as an educator, teaching elementary school and then as an administrator in Buffalo Grove, Illinois. I was always interested in art, but had no formal instruction.
When I retired in 2005, I began to take classes, first with the Bigfoot Recreation Department and later with Lynne Railsback at Geneva Lake Arts Foundation. In her class I began to focus on botanical art. That interest has continued including classes from Heeyoung Kim. I continue to learn, working with live specimens when possible. My work is done in graphite, watercolor and colored pencil.
In addition to exhibiting work at GLAF Gallery 223 in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, my work has been exhibited in Heeyoung Kim’s annual student show at Brushwood Center at Ryerson Woods, in Riverwoods, Illinois. Currently I am working with a group of fellow botanical artists to document some of the wildflowers that are native to the Kishwauketoe Nature Conservancy in Williams Bay, Wisconsin. This project was awarded a grant from American Society of Botanical Artists. In addition to being a member of Geneva Lake Art Foundation, I also belong to the American Society of Botanical Artists and Reed-Turner Woodland Botanical Artists in Long Grove, Illinois.
