Genius Loci: Learning From Nature's MuseThe ancient Romans believed that every place on Earth is protected by a guardian spirit or genius loci, literally “spirit of place.” Today, we use this phrase to mean the collective characteristics—cultural, environmental, and psychological—that define a specific locale and distinguish it from all others. The legacy of listening to and learning from the genius loci continues today as a new generation of artists
and designers responds to Nature. The works in this group art exhibition, Genius Loci: Learning from Nature’s Muse, address these lessons. Exhibition runs July 8 - August 31, 2012 Featuring the work of: Meaghan Burritt · Jessica Calek · Doug DeWitt · Jennifer Hines · Brian Johnsen + Sebastian Schmaling · Anne Kauff · Rachel Kauff · Michael McGuire · Barry Phipps · Cynthia Winter · Jacob Wener |
