36 Acres / Avian Architecture
Opening Reception
February 28, 2016
36 Acres
A Photographic Exploration of the Reed-Turner Woodland
Join us for an exhibition of work by photographer Tobin Fraley that explores the wonder that can be found in the every day details of a local natural area. In 36 Acres, Fraley digs deeper into the "extraordinary" that exists in small spaces by taking an in-depth look at the Reed Turner Woodland Nature Preserve in Long Grove, Illinois.
Avian Architecture
The Bird Sanctuaries of Dave LaForge
A master plasterer by trade, Dave LaForge was inspired to use the scraps he found on the job site every day to bring life to the structures in his imagination. After decades of creating his "Bird Sanctuaries" for his own pleasure, LaForge has been persuaded to share them with the public in this very special exhibit. Often reminiscent of the various vintage buildings he has worked on in the Northshore and Chicago, his detailed and unique creations not only serve the birds, but also practice one of the best forms of recycling.
